In a recent afternoon, Christina Applegate was home in L.A., reading the script for her new Monday-night comedy series for ABC, Samantha Who?, which had just arrived at her door. “Suppose you don’t like a line or a scene,” I asked, “does the brass listen to you?”
“I’m one of the producers,” said the astute Ms. Applegate. “They have to listen to me.”
On the show, Christina plays a hit-and-run victim who suffers amnesia and doesn’t remember that she used to be a “mean girl”—and now is not sure who her friends really are. “It’s not your usual sitcom,” she told me. “I love the flashback aspect that we’ll do every week. And there’s also a touch of Sex and the City in it.” …
